Janet is a former Health and Physical Education teacher, coach, and driver’s ed instructor with Henrico
County Public Schools. She taught elementary, middle and high school students during her 22 years of
service. She is a Richmond native and received her two degrees from Virginia Commonwealth
University. When she left teaching in 2018, she stayed busy working part-time as a PT tech, volunteer
tennis director, and worked with a private group of students from Chesterfield County Schools during
Covid.
Janet lives in Bon Air with her husband, Curt. They have 4 adult children between them and 3 grandsons,
ages 1-4. She loves playing tennis, enjoys traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She is
looking forward to teaching again, both in the classroom and Behind the Wheel. She has already
encountered several former HCPS graduates, as parents now, as well as former SPES students now
learning to drive. She says that this makes the job even more fun and special.
