Independent Study – Online Driver Ed Course
Welcome to our Independent Study online Driver Education Course, offered in partnership with National Driver Training. This online course will give students the freedom to complete their coursework at their own pace, whenever they have internet access. Progress can be saved and continued at a later date, making this course a great option for students who have very busy schedules.
This course has been approved by the Virginia DMV. It satisfies the requirements for the classroom portion of Driver Education in the state of Virginia and consists of at least 30 hours of instruction and includes components about alcohol safety, drug abuse awareness, aggressive driving, distracted driving, pedestrian and bicycle safety, handicapped parking, fuel efficient driving practices, motorcycle awareness and organ and tissue donation awareness, as required by law.

This is a fully independent learning course. Students must be comfortable using the online course website on a personal computer and should not be completed using a cell phone. Upon completion of the course materials, students will be required to take the final exam at RVA Driving Academy. Our office is located at 1125 Gaskins Road, Suite 600, Henrico, VA 23238.
Testing appointments will be offered on Saturday mornings, from 9 am – 12 pm.
Testing Procedures:
- All aspects of the course must completed before scheduling a testing date and time
- Minor students, under 18 years, of age must have a parent present on the final testing date
- All students will be required to show a valid photo ID when taking the final exam
- Students must use RVA owned and provided computers to take the exam
